¿Qué es el rechazo materno? – Definición desde la Psicología y la Psiquiatría

Desde una perspectiva psicológica, el rechazo materno se define como un patrón persistente de conductas, actitudes o respuestas negativas por parte de la madre hacia su hija, que puede manifestarse a través de la frialdad emocional, la indiferencia, el desdén, la crítica excesiva, la negligencia afectiva o el abandono físico y/o emocional.

El rechazo materno puede ser explícito (rechazo verbal, maltrato, abandono) o implícito (falta de afecto, preferencias marcadas por otros hijos, invalidación emocional), y afecta profundamente el desarrollo del apego seguro, la autoestima, la identidad y la salud mental de la hija.

En el marco de la Teoría del Apego (Bowlby, 1969), la ausencia de una relación materna cálida y consistente puede generar en la hija patrones de apego inseguro, ansiedad de abandono, dificultades relacionales, trastornos del estado de ánimo o trastornos de personalidad.

Desde la psiquiatría, se reconoce que el rechazo prolongado por parte de una figura materna puede contribuir al desarrollo de trastornos como la depresión, trastornos de ansiedad, trastorno de personalidad límite, o síntomas complejos de trauma relacional crónico.

CONSEQUENCIA

Según Jung, la madre representa uno de los arquetipos más poderosos del inconsciente colectivo:

• El Arquetipo de la Madre es ambivalente: contiene tanto la función nutricia y protectora, como la figura devoradora, sofocante o destructiva.

Cuando una hija experimenta rechazo materno, puede vivir la “Sombra” de ese arquetipo, es decir, la parte negativa de la madre:

• Frialdad, indiferencia, abandono, control excesivo o incluso odio no expresado.

Esto no solo afecta el vínculo afectivo, sino que hiere la psique profunda, ya que la madre, desde la visión junguiana, representa la fuente de vida, el primer contacto con el mundo. Rechazar a la hija equivale simbólicamente a negarle su derecho a existir o ser valorada.

Consecuencias en la Individuación

• Jung consideraba que la individuación (el proceso por el cual una persona se convierte en sí misma) requiere la integración de la sombra, y en el caso del rechazo materno, esto implica enfrentar el dolor de esa herida, darle significado, y reconciliarse internamente con la madre arquetípica.

• La hija rechazada puede proyectar esa sombra en otras mujeres, relaciones o incluso en su propia maternidad si no trabaja conscientemente esa herida.
